When I was younger, I was just figuring things out. Now, there’s talk about Jennifer Lopez and Diddy being linked. There’s a rumor that while I was dating JLo, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith tried to involve her in a threesome, and I was ready to confront Will Smith over it. Is any of that true?
You heard that? I saw it online.
You know, not everything online is accurate. What are you talking about? I’m not sure what you mean. There’s also speculation that Diddy might be the reason JLo and Ben broke up. Apparently, Ben wanted no part of the Diddy drama, and now JLo’s right in the middle of it.
Some reports say JLo witnessed a murder involving Diddy, and she’s now sharing her side of the story. Natanya, thanks for being here. How did you feel when you saw the recent raids at Diddy’s homes?
It was very emotional. I felt like justice might finally be served, and that it might be my justice.
You’ve said since the shooting that Diddy was the one who shot you. I think you even told the doctor that night, right?
Yes, I said it right away. I saw them pull out the guns—I was facing them directly, and I was shot in the nose. I saw everything.
Did you feel from the beginning that people weren’t believing you?
At first, that wasn’t on my mind. As a mother of three—two at the time—my main focus was on surviving and getting back to my kids. I didn’t think people would doubt me, but as things went on, it became clear that was happening.
The 1999 nightclub shooting is making news again, and JLo was there.
It takes a lot of strength to get through stuff like this. We’ve all been through tough times, and you channel that into your music in such a genuine way. It’s powerful and inspiring. Thank you for sharing that.
Recently, JLo was seen on American Idol, emotional about an abusive relationship, which was allegedly with Diddy. Given that Diddy was involved in a shooting at a club, it’s not surprising that Ben walked away.
This situation apparently led to Shine following Diddy everywhere, hoping to learn about the music industry. However, Shine’s newfound success seemed to make him act spoiled, as he reportedly kept calling Bad Boy’s offices to ask for more money and complain about his cars.
He’s not the Messiah; he’s just a bad boy. So, there was this incident where Shine reportedly got mad because Puffy wouldn’t buy him the Mercedes 600 model, only the 500. So, Shine asked the dealer to put a 600 badge on the back of the 500. If you’re going to lie about your car, why not go big? But it didn’t matter because a week later, he wrecked the car. Nice one, Shine.
Diddy signed Shine, and he was seen as Biggie’s replacement. Shine had a deep, raspy voice, a lot like Biggie’s, which was unusual for someone so skinny and small. Honestly, if you listen to Shine’s records, you can hear the resemblance. Shine was being groomed to be the Golden Boy of Bad Boy Records, making high-profile appearances on Ma’s and Puff Daddy’s albums.
But before Shine could release his solo album, something happened that changed everything for Bad Boy Records and his life.
On December 27th, 1999, Shine went to Club New York in Manhattan with Puff Daddy and his girlfriend at the time, Jennifer Lopez. Also at the club were some tough Brooklyn street guys, including Matthew “Scar” Allen and his friend Julius Jones, who Shine knew.
There are conflicting reports about what happened that night. Scar and his crew were upset with Diddy for bumping into them and spilling champagne. They were also annoyed by Diddy flaunting his wealth. One of Scar’s crew threw a stack of money in Diddy’s face.
Here’s where it gets messy. The prosecution says Shine pulled out a gun and started shooting into the crowd. Shine, however, claims Julius pulled a gun first, so Shine shot him in the shoulder in self-defense.
Security grabbed Shine, causing his gun to go off in the air. Some witnesses suggested Diddy also pulled out a gun, which he denied.
After the chaos, everyone ran outside. Diddy, JLo, and Diddy’s bodyguard, Anthony “Wolf” Jones, got into a car owned by Bad Boy Records. The car reportedly swerved around a police blockade and drove for 20 blocks while being chased by the police. When they were stopped, a pistol was found under the front passenger seat, and another was found along the route of the chase, allegedly thrown from the car. Shine was arrested at the scene with a gun. Everyone, including JLo, ended up at the police precinct. Reportedly, Diddy tried to bribe his driver with $50,000 to take the fall for the gun, offering a $40,000 diamond ring from JLo as collateral. Not a good look.
That morning couldn’t have been good, but it took a whole year for the case to go to trial, and a lot of crazy stuff happened during that time. Shine’s reputation plummeted fast. He claimed Puffy stopped talking to him and even tried to block his debut album. Despite that, Shine’s self-titled album came out in September 2000, hit number five on the Billboard Chart, and sold around 900,000 copies.
But Shine’s luck didn’t last. In January 2001, just before the trial, he was in a car crash while driving without a license, leaving two passengers seriously injured. Miraculously, Shine wasn’t hurt, but it wasn’t a good look for him. After the crash, Puff Daddy’s lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, asked Judge Solomon to try Shine and Diddy separately, but the judge said no. Meanwhile, JLo and Puffy’s relationship was publicly falling apart, with rumors swirling about whether she would be called to testify.
JLo made waves by attending the Grammys with Puff Daddy in a very revealing dress, supposedly trying to distract the media from the looming charges. Witnesses like Julius said they saw both Shine and Diddy with guns that night, and Natanya Rubin testified she saw them both shooting. A doctor who treated her after the incident told the court she said Puff Daddy shot her in the face, which is unusual because typically, women shot in the face by Puffy get a record deal.
Finally, over a year after the shooting, the case went to court. Diddy put together a dream team of lawyers, including the legendary Johnny Cochran and Benjamin Brafman, a famous mob lawyer known for defending Sammy “The Bull” Gravano. Before the trial began, Puffy held a press conference, claiming he was completely innocent and that everything else was a lie.
On Sunday night, Puffy barely spoke after his opening statement, which was unusual for him since he’s usually so talkative. Instead, his lawyer handled most of the speaking. The press conference was long, but here are the main points:
Everyone is lying about Puffy having a gun. The gun found in the front seat wasn’t his.
Puffy didn’t give any instructions to his driver. He denied any confrontation at the club, calling it all lies.
The prosecution’s main argument revolved around three guns. They recovered three weapons: one on Shine, one in the front of Diddy’s truck, and one on the street that was allegedly thrown from the vehicle during the chase. Interestingly, all three guns were the same make, ammunition, and model, suggesting they were purchased together. However, these weren’t legally bought; they were illegal Smith and Wesson handguns reported stolen from Georgia. A ballistics expert also testified that if Puffy was standing where witnesses said he was during the shootout, the bullet in the ceiling would have come from a gun he was holding.
A major revelation came from Puffy’s driver, Wardell Fenderson, who said that when he dropped Puffy off at the club in the SUV, he saw Puffy holding a black hat. This is interesting because Puffy initially claimed he arrived in a different vehicle, implying that if he wasn’t in the car with the gun, it couldn’t be his. But if he left in a different car than he arrived in and the gun was in that vehicle, it suggests he might have been carrying the gun.
Fenderson later testified that while at the precinct, he was offered a bribe by both Diddy and his bodyguard, Wolf. Allegedly, Diddy whispered, “I’ll give you $50,000 if you say the gun is yours.” Combining this with Natanya Rubin’s statement that she saw Puffy pull out a black handgun raises questions about Puffy’s involvement, despite Shine being the one who pulled the trigger.
Shine claimed he was just Diddy’s guy in the 1999 nightclub shooting. Christina Kur KK, as she’s sometimes called, reportedly required all employees, from the butler to the chef, to carry pouches filled with cocaine, ecstasy, and marijuana gummies. Diddy could ask any of these people for drugs at any time, and they would provide them.
This behavior paints a picture of Puffy in a childlike state of mind, where everyone needs to have his “sweets” on them at all times. The detailed nature of these allegations makes them hard to dismiss as fabrications. Allegedly, Mr. Jones himself was forced to carry one of these drug pouches. As a record producer who idolized others in the music industry, including Stevie J, who worked with P. Diddy, Jones was reportedly coerced by Diddy into homosexual acts. Diddy allegedly showed him a video of Stevie J having sex with another man to suggest that “everyone was doing it” and to pressure Jones into joining in.
He tried to encourage Mr. Jones to engage in sexual activities with him, which is just part of the troubling behavior. Diddy has been hoarding drugs and coercing men into sleeping with him. The situation with P. Diddy, or whatever name he’s using, is seriously concerning. I know I might sound repetitive, but we really need to leave Puffy alone. When a guy goes on national TV to pour his heart out, expressing how much he loves, needs, and misses a woman, and then does everything he can for her, only for her to leave him for a dancer, it says a lot. It shows either he wasn’t being genuine, or she wanted someone she could control. But then again, Puffy is a dancer too. So maybe she thought, “What’s the difference between a dancer with money and one without?” She still ends up with a dancer.
I think JLo will eventually move on from dancers. Seeing JLo break up with Puffy from a distance would have been laughable and disrespectful. It made him look bad, like a pushover. He promoted her, supported her, and gave her credibility, but she ended up betraying him. Despite everything, I like JLo. She seems nice and has a good look.
If JLo dated you, she wouldn’t leave you, right? If she went out with me, her attitude would be different. Does Diddy still try to reach out to her? He must. But no, she says he doesn’t. Has Diddy ruined it for black guys or just hip-hop guys? After him, she might be done with black hip-hop guys. I’m done with musicians for now.
Let’s clear this up: Does JLo have the best figure in the business? Definitely. Did she leave you because you cheated on her? That’s the rumor. No, I didn’t. She told me otherwise. JLo’s current relationship with Ben Affleck is getting a lot of attention. It’s likely to end in divorce like her previous marriages. My relationship with her lasted longer than any of her marriages.
Comment on that, P. Diddy. How do you feel about everything that’s been said? Don’t ask me any more JLo questions. It’s been a while, but it still hurts, right? No, not at all. What went wrong in the relationship? No relationship is perfect. For example, we’d come back to the studio, and there’d be a bunch of girls. He tried to convince her it was necessary for his image as a superstar. But Jennifer had been around and dealt with famous people before. I didn’t like how they would team up against her about these girls. It was disrespectful.
One night, Puff told me to take Jennifer home after a confrontation. She changed into casual clothes and returned to the studio, ready to stand up for herself. Puff got rid of the other girls. There were private investigators following us, likely hired by someone close to Jennifer. I tried to warn Puff. If private investigators were following us, someone was trying to find out something, possibly Jennifer or someone she hired.
JLo was involved in Diddy’s shady dealings too. She was trying to catch him, but Diddy quickly silenced her.
