We spoke to Cameron, but he didn’t say a word to Kendrick Lamar about the whole Drake situation. Whenever Drake has a problem, he seems to be throwing shade. I heard there was a track played at some club—actually, it was a club in Houston.
The track sounded like Drake was talking trash. If you thought the rap beef was over, think again. Rumor has it Drake is gearing up to drop something new after Kendrick dismissed him with “Not Like Us.” But the real question is: can Drake survive round two without his “protector”? No, I’m not talking about Lucian; I mean J Prince. Where is he? These two have been inseparable from the start.
A few years ago, J Prince made it his mission to fight Drake’s battles in the industry. But during his beef with Kendrick—arguably the most important of Drake’s career—J Prince was nowhere to be found.
Why is that? Was Kendrick too big of an enemy? And what about J Prince’s street connections? Why boast about them if he couldn’t take on Kendrick? Whatever the reasons, Drake is furious. J Prince left him hanging, and word on the street is, it’s caused some bad blood between them.
So, how is Drake holding J Prince accountable? And more importantly, why did J Prince disappear? Did Kendrick have some dirt on him he didn’t want exposed?
Let’s find out.
People act like J Prince is the boogeyman, someone to fear. But he’s not the only one with a crew. Some thought, “Oh, J Prince just posted, we need to be quiet now because J Prince…” But where is J Prince? He’s definitely not in Drake’s corner, that’s for sure. During the entire beef, many from both sides had their say, but J Prince surprisingly stayed silent and didn’t defend Drake as expected. And he’s not usually one to keep quiet.
Fans couldn’t help but notice J Prince’s absence during one of the biggest rap beefs ever. One person on Reddit asked, “Has J Prince called Drake yet? How long before he tells him to end the beef? When will we hear about a diss track aimed at Kendrick so disrespectful it could have led to violence? When will we hear that lie again?”

Another fan chimed in, “I bet J Prince isn’t backing Drake right now, which explains why things have gotten so ugly. This wouldn’t have happened if Mr. Prince were involved. No way he lets his golden boy get into this mess. Maybe Drake crossed him. LEL if true, but that’s just my guess.”
So yeah, people have noticed J Prince’s absence. But why does it matter if J Prince isn’t defending Drake? It’s simple. J Prince has always been Drake’s protector. It was J Prince’s son, Jazz Prince, who discovered Drake on MySpace and helped launch his career, signing him to Aspire Music Group and connecting him with Lil Wayne.
Imagine your dad told you to find new artists, and you found Drake. Yes, Drake was the first artist I found. I discovered Soulja Boy before Drake, but everyone was getting famous then. So, in a way, J Prince is responsible for Drake’s success, and he’s always defended him fiercely. For example, when Pusha T attacked Drake, TMZ reported that the Rap-A-Lot Records CEO dismissed Pusha, saying, “Pusha’s nothing more than an ant,” and issued a warning to him, though he claimed Pusha had nothing to fear because he wasn’t on Drake’s level.
Remember Drake’s feud with Kanye in 2018? Prince stopped that too. He tweeted, “I met Kanye West last night in H-Town at the Rothko Chapel. It wasn’t planned, but I’m glad I did. I won’t let a place of worship deter our meeting.” He also posted a video of Kanye reading a statement about ending the beef with Drake, which seemed as if Prince had some leverage over him.
“This is Jay and J Prince. I’m making this video to address the ongoing back and forth between Drake and me. We’ve both taken shots at each other, and it’s time to end it. I’m asking Drake to join me on stage on December 7th in Los Angeles to share our two biggest albums of the year, with the goal of freeing Larry Hoover.”
Interestingly, Kanye resumed his attacks on Drake once J Prince stepped back. He released a remix of “Like That,” reigniting the feud. To be fair, Drake also fueled the fire with his verse on “Circo Loco” with 21 Savage, rapping, “Linking with the opps, I did that for J Prince. I did it for the mob ties. Feel like ’17, two perks, frog eyes. And I never been the one to go apologize. Me, I’d rather hit him up one more time.”
Drake has basically confirmed that the only person he listens to in the music industry is Jay Prince. Jay Prince has gladly taken on the role of Drake’s personal protector. In 2023, J Prince gave NBA YoungBoy some stern advice after YoungBoy dissed Drake. The issue stemmed from Drake refusing to collaborate with YoungBoy because of his loyalty to YoungBoy’s rival, Lil Durk. YoungBoy expressed his frustration in the track “F the Industry, Pt. 2,” rapping, “Talked to Drake cross FaceTime, he wasn’t feeling me. Told me that he screwed with Durk, damn, that stuff getting to me. Told me that he liked the stuff I’m doing but can’t do stuff with me. So when we cross our ways, screw what you say, you’re my enemy.”

When J Prince heard about this, he decided to visit YoungBoy in Salt Lake City, Utah, along with Birdman. After what must have been an intimidating meeting for YoungBoy, J Prince posted on Instagram, “As you all can see, I had a good time kicking it with the homies in Utah. On behalf of the lil’ homie YB, me and my brother Birdman were able to have a real conversation face to face.” He added, “We talked about the past, the present, and the future, but most importantly, we left each other with mutual respect moving forward. Even though I wasn’t there for a meeting with Birdman, I must say the Lord works in mysterious ways. With that being said, I must address the song where my name and Drake’s name were mentioned. To the lil’ homie, as I said to you privately, I say to you publicly: Drake is my son. He rolls with me. Therefore, I think it’s a good idea to take him off your enemy list because the truth of the matter is that we got nothing but love for Durk and your accomplishments.”
However, things have changed recently. Just a few days ago, J Prince was asked about Kendrick’s track “Not Like Us,” which has been causing trouble for Drake. His response was, “James, last question: do you like us or not?”
Fans find it hard to believe that the same person who was so passionate about protecting Drake is now indifferent to a diss track against him. What happened? Did something go down between them?
Rumors suggest that J Prince and Drake may have had a falling out. Some speculate that J Prince didn’t want to get involved in Drake’s feud with Kendrick to avoid exposing his own secrets. While not everyone believes J Prince is a true gangster, there are whispers of his involvement in some shady activities in Houston. Additionally, there are claims that J Prince’s son used Area 29 clubs to bring women for Drake and his OVO crew.
In Drake’s track “Family Matters,” he raps, “Drop a 50 bag for the mob in the spot, drop a 50 bag 29 for the thought. I was really, really trying to keep it PG. If you had a set, they’d give you a DP, but you civilian gang in real life, you PC.” Here, Drake references Area 29 and boasts about his street connections, including J Prince.
Moreover, there’s speculation around the mysterious death of Takeoff, with some pointing fingers at Drake. J Prince’s crew was responsible for Takeoff’s protection at the time of his death, and there are rumors that Kendrick may have hinted at J Prince’s involvement in Takeoff’s passing during his recent beef with Drake.
Remember the bar from Kendrick’s track “Euphoria”: “His daddy a killer, he want to be junior. They must have forgot the stuff that they done. Dementia must run in his family, but let it get shaky, I’ll park his son.” Back then, many thought Kendrick was taking shots at Drake’s real dad, but now people believe he was actually referring to the man who mentored Drake and protected him in the industry—J Prince. Is this why J Prince got scared? It sure seems like it.
J Prince has a sketchy past. Before he entered the entertainment industry, he was a kingpin on the streets of Houston, Texas, involved in some pretty nasty stuff he’d rather keep hidden. Realistically, he could still be involved in shady dealings behind the scenes. Clashing with Kendrick meant risking his secrets being exposed, which is likely why J Prince disappeared from the public eye.
Are these two done for good? It’s hard to say, but it looks like Drake might have found a way to draw J Prince out and possibly reignite his feud with Kendrick. How? With a new diss track. Yes, you heard that right. Drake is reportedly preparing to release another diss track aimed at Kendrick. Rumors are swirling that the Canadian rapper is crafting some sharp bars to put Kendrick in his place.

Before you dismiss this, consider that DJ Akademiks spilled the tea. He was very active during the beef, providing fans with Drake updates, so many believe he’s on point this time too. But what exactly did he say? During one of his live streams, AK mentioned hearing a rumor about Drake playing a new song for a group of people at a club in Houston. Clubs can be wild, so no confirmed reports on the lyrics exist.
“So I heard there was a record played in some club—well, not a club, it was like a club in Houston, right? And the record sounded like Drake talking some [__]. Now is that the next record?”
AK’s sources and gut suggest it’s a Kendrick diss track. To be fair, Drake has major damage control to do. “Not Like Us” completely annihilated him. It’s surprising he had the courage to show his face in public after that. But pay attention to something important AK mentioned towards the end of the clip: it’s not going to be his next single.
“Now, is that the next record he’s going to put out?”
Some fans are confused by this. There were reports about Drake dropping a track called “Man in the Mirror,” supposedly sampling MJ’s song of the same name. AK kind of shut down those rumors in a tweet. If it were an MJ song, we would probably have seen reports circulating online. Instead, it’s been quiet. Sure, clubs are noisy, but a room full of people wouldn’t miss the similarities to an MJ song. So if it’s not an MJ song and not a Kendrick diss track, what does AK mean? Does Drake have something else planned? We’re not sure, but one thing is confirmed: the reports about Drake playing a new song aren’t BS. He’s done that before, like when he played “What Would Pluto Do” from “For All the Dogs” before its official release.
Moreover, Drake has been on the move. He returned to his home country a few days ago and posted a picture with 50 Cent. If you think he posted it just for fun, think again: he wasn’t just having a good time with Fif. Sure, 50 Cent can crack a joke and is good company, but many believe Drake was mocking Rick Ross. Fif supported Drake during the beef, not because he thought Drake was right, but because he hated Rick Ross. So Drake might be trying to stir the pot again. But get this: rumors are circulating about Kendrick dropping a new album soon. PAA said, as always, take it with a grain of salt, the new album is supposedly slated to release this Friday. That didn’t happen, but the chatter indicates something is brewing.
So yeah, round two might be around the corner, and fans aren’t sure if J Prince can stay out of it this time since Drake is furious about his betrayal during the first round. If Drake is gearing up for round two, he’s likely to do it after he gets his house in order.
Fans believe J Prince backed out because of Kendrick. One person commented, “J Prince has been silent because he knows Kendrick is deep in the streets of LA. He doesn’t want that kind of smoke.” Another person added, “People forget Kendrick’s mom and dad are from Chicago, so Kendrick has some real people on his side away from LA.”
