The ASAP Rocky case is turning into a full-blown mess. Just 24 hours ago, there were serious talks about him possibly taking a plea deal and facing up to 24 years in prison. But now? The prosecution’s case is falling apart.
Their star witness, R, is crumbling under pressure. Last week, he got caught lying—deleting texts and submitting false evidence to the police. Turns out, some of the deleted messages were edited to make things seem way worse than they actually were.
Now, as the trial plays out live, things are getting even crazier. ASAP Rocky’s defense team is ripping R’s testimony apart, exposing contradiction after contradiction. And the biggest red flag? R just got caught in another massive lie.
Remember how he swore he didn’t own a 9mm? Well, here’s where things take a wild turn. When police searched the scene for shell casings, seven officers found nothing. But then R—who wasn’t even supposed to be there—sends a woman he works with (the prosecution is trying to paint her as a prostitute under his control), and suddenly, she “finds” seven 9mm casings. Just like that, R hands them over to the cops, and now they’re trying to use them to put ASAP Rocky away for 24 years.
But the defense isn’t letting that slide. They’re pressing R hard: “How do we know these aren’t yours?” Even his supposed bullet wounds look more like scratches. And the kicker? At first, R insisted he didn’t own a 9mm. But then, the defense hit him with photos of himself at a shooting range using one. His response? “That was in New York! I don’t carry in California, so it couldn’t be mine.”
Yeah… this case is spiraling fast, and it’s not looking good for the prosecution.
So, remember those photos from the shooting range that were supposedly taken in New York? Turns out—they were actually shot in Los Angeles.
Big moment, right? Well, not so fast.
Court insiders are saying this isn’t as cut and dry as it seems. The jury has been taking a ton of notes, which could work in ASAP Rocky’s favor—or not. It’s hard to tell at this point.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Black Laws has been live-tweeting straight from the courtroom, and things just got messy. According to multiple sources, during a brutal cross-examination by ASAP Rocky’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, Justice Served TV reported that the judge directly asked the prosecutor, John Luen, whether the state could even ethically continue with the case.
That’s huge.
We reached out to the L.A. District Attorney’s office for a statement and will update as soon as we hear back. But in the meantime, legal expert Black Letter Law weighed in, confirming that yes, the judge did ask that question. The prosecution, however, isn’t backing down. Their response? “Yes, we can prosecute this, and we can get a jury verdict.”
And with the jury paying such close attention, anything is possible.
Okay, let’s get into these live tweets because this case is wild.
If you’re stuck at work, don’t worry—I’ve got you.
Black Laws tweeted:
“Alright, we’re back for day six of the ASAP Rocky trial. R is on the stand, and the DA is doing a redirect. The vibe is low today. L.A. was covered in thick fog this morning, and folks were running late. I’ve been asking people how they’d vote if they had to decide right now.”

Then, later:
“We’re now on cross-examination. Tacopina is up, asking R about Wale. Apparently, R called Wale last Thursday after court, right after the state’s cross-examination.”
And here’s where things take a turn—because in this case, no one is safe.
Sources are saying that even members of the ASAP Mob think R is lying and just out for money. Allegedly, Wale didn’t even pick up the call.
Meanwhile, tensions are boiling over in court. The judge just had to tell Luen and Tacopina to stop arguing. Then, in a moment of frustration, R turned to Tacopina and snapped, “You’re so annoying! What are we even doing here?”
Whew.
People in the courtroom say R is done with Tacopina’s questions. But then, receipts start rolling in. Court docs show that on November 8, 2021, R sent a text to his business partner that said:
“I want to get this ninja money.”
And at this point, R is over it. He’s getting loud, saying, “I’m not on trial! I’ve been here for five days dealing with this man. I’m ready to f*ing go!”
The judge had to step in to calm him down, and now the attorneys are at the bench, probably trying to figure out how to keep this case from going completely off the rails.
Some people think this outburst made R look fake. Like, yeah, testifying is stressful, but shouldn’t his legal team have prepped him for this? The jury definitely noticed, and that could be a problem.
To make things even messier, the judge keeps cutting R off mid-sentence, which has people questioning whether this trial is being handled fairly. Some are even saying this could lead to a mistrial. If ASAP Rocky isn’t convicted, prosecutors might retry the case, blaming judicial interference. But if ASAP’s team thinks R wasn’t allowed to say everything he needed to, they could ask for a mistrial too.
Oh, and did I mention the lawyers are literally fighting in court?
Black Letter Law tweeted:
“Luen just snapped, ‘This is some prop garbage, Tacopina!’”
Then, Tacopina leans over and shouts at Luen—while making a “bang bang” gesture with his fingers toward Rocky.
ASAP Rocky, wearing a cream velvet blazer and gold earrings, literally had to step between them.
And that’s where we’re at right now.
This trial is far from over. Stay tuned.
Luen looks at ASAP Rocky’s lawyer and says, “Time for more steroids.” The lawyer quickly fires back with, “Go to the Durst house.”
For those of you who don’t know, Robert Durst was a famous killer, but he came from one of the wealthiest families in America. After he was finally locked up for his last murder, this prosecutor—who was a lawyer at the time—visited the Durst house. And get this: he was apparently having an affair with Durst’s widow (or ex-wife, whatever she was).
Black Letter Law didn’t hold back: “This is getting intense. Everyone needs a timeout and a crash course on being professional in court.” They also pointed out that the judge seems to have completely lost control.
On Twitter, Leah Woki was frustrated:
“Why isn’t this trial being broadcast? This could be gold on TV! The media should be fighting to air it, and we’re missing all the important evidentiary arguments.”

She added, “The best stuff is in the motions arguments. I hate that you guys can’t see any of it.”
Another person said:
“I’ve been glued to your updates. This is the trial we want to see! We haven’t seen two full hours of testimony in two days—it’s all breaks, objections, and ‘yes/no, I don’t recall’ responses.”
Black Letter Law responded: “I’m trying to add as much detail as I can so you all feel like you’re here. The judge wraps it up at 4:00, so we only have about an hour and a half left.”
I’m doing my best to get Black Letter Law on the channel so she can give daily recaps—even if it’s just 30 minutes. I want you all to be able to ask her questions directly.
But here’s the thing—it looks like this case might get dismissed. Or at the very least, R is making things so much worse for himself.
Personally, I believe ASAP Rocky 100%. Let’s see what the jury thinks.
Anyway, let me know what you think in the comments, and I’ll catch you later.
