J. Cole Reveals the Truth About Drake’s Betrayal

It looks like there’s some drama between Drake and J. Cole, and fans are starting to catch on. Did you see that post on Instagram? It seems like Drake might be throwing shade at J. Cole. Honestly, I’m proud of the whole project, but there’s just one part that makes me cringe—like, “Man, that’s the lamest thing I’ve ever done.”

Once again, Drake seems to be in the middle of some trouble. At this point, it’s becoming a regular thing for him, and maybe he needs some help. Remember when Drake and J. Cole teamed up to drop that hit “First Person Shooter”? Well, it looks like things might be falling apart between them now. Yep, you heard that right. So, what happened? Drake, in what feels like a high school move, dug up one of J. Cole’s old tweets and posted it on his secret Finsta account (we’ll get to that Finsta stuff later). What’s surprising is that most fans thought Drake and J. Cole were still on good terms, but this post says otherwise.

So, who’s behind this falling out? Drake’s dropping hints, but it seems like J. Cole might’ve been the first to pull away, feeling let down by Drake. Honestly, it’s not that surprising given Drake’s track record. But Cole isn’t just sitting back; he’s planning to hit Drake where it hurts by teaming up with Kendrick.

But how much of this is real? Are we about to see another rap beef? Let’s dig into it. Are we looking at a potential face-off between Drake and J. Cole, with diss tracks flying, or is Drake just going to stick to his usual routine of throwing subtle shade?

Drake seems to be shading J. Cole, and fans have noticed that Drake’s been quiet for a while. The guy who used to fire back at diss tracks in no time suddenly went off the grid. But now he’s back, in his signature corny way. Apparently, when things got too heated with Kendrick, Drake decided to take a break and made a secret Finsta account. Seriously, someone needs to remind him he’s not in high school anymore.
You can find him on Instagram under the handle “a plot twist.” It looks like Drake set up the account on June 28, 2012, and he’s been pretty active with around 250 posts since then. This is also the account where he surprised fans with 100 GB of new content. Instead of posting personal rants, Drake used his recent posts to direct fans to the 100gigs.org website, which included unreleased songs, behind-the-scenes studio footage, and more. One of the clips even shows Drake talking about the woman who inspired “Hotline Bling.”

He shared a story that went something like this: “We used to be in bed together, right? After we’d finished, her phone would start blowing up. So, I saved her name in my phone as ‘Hotline Bling.’ Today, I was looking at it and thought, ‘Hotline Bling is a sick name. That should be my artist name.’ But since it’s not, I just went with ‘H Bling.'”

Drake seems to be using this account to connect with his fans on a deeper level. But his latest post really caught everyone’s attention. In a move some are calling petty, Drake shared an old tweet from 2019 about J. Cole. It said, “Remember when J. Cole got his phone stolen out of his pocket by a fan, and they called Jay-Z from it, but he wasn’t answering, so they called from their own phone and he picked up?” Drake quickly deleted the post, but the internet had already picked up on it. One person tweeted, “Cole’s just minding his business, and here comes Drake being messy.” Another added, “I thought Drake would be in his mogul era by now, not playing around online like a kid. It’s kind of sad.”

It really makes you wonder—what’s Drake up to?

If you think back, J. Cole wasn’t around when Drake was going through some of the toughest moments in his career. Considering Cole owed him a number-one track, it’s easy to see why Drake might feel a bit bitter. Maybe J. Cole felt betrayed and decided to back the winning side.
J. Cole is siding with Kendrick Lamar now. Remember when J. Cole dropped “7-Minute Drill” and took that shot at Kendrick? Well, earlier this year, before the beef really kicked off, J. Cole had a change of heart. He actually regrets dropping that line now. He said, “Man, that’s the lamest thing I’ve ever done in my life, right? And I know this isn’t what people want to hear. I can hear my dude up there right now, like, ‘Nah, don’t do that,’ but I gotta keep it real with y’all. I almost had a relapse, right? ‘Cause y’all heard some stuff that happened a few weeks ago. Y’all heard that track that dropped, and I felt conflicted ’cause I know I don’t really feel that way, but the world wants to see blood. So, in my rush to get this music out, I did something that doesn’t sit right with my spirit. I tried to jab back at my homie, tried to keep it friendly, but when I listen to it and see the reaction it sparked, it just doesn’t feel good; it messes with my peace. So tonight, I want to say, in the midst of all that, while I was trying to find an angle to downplay this dude’s incredible catalog and greatness, I want to ask how many of y’all think Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest to ever touch a microphone? Dreamville, y’all love Kendrick Lamar, right? Well, so do I.”

For those who don’t know, J. Cole and Kendrick have been tight for over a decade. They first linked up in 2010, with Cole helping Kendrick produce his debut hit “HiiiPower.” Then in 2012, they worked together on “Forbidden Fruit” for Cole’s second album. But Cole messed up their relationship when he jumped on the track “First Person Shooter” with Drake and rapped, “Mio big three, it’s just big me. Love when they argue The Hardest MC. Is it K. Dot, is it Aubrey, or me? We The Big Three like we started a league.” That line is what set everything off. Kendrick fired back with, “Yeah, get up with me, sneak dissing J, ‘First Person Shooter,’ I hope they came with three switches. The Big Three, n-word, it’s just big me.”

Then J. Cole was the first to really clap back at Kendrick on “7-Minute Drill,” and he didn’t hold back. He rapped, “The rap beef ain’t realer than the stuff I seen in Cumberland. He averaging one hard verse like every 30 months or something,” referencing Kendrick’s five-part “The Heart” series that he’s been releasing throughout his career. Cole also said, “If he wasn’t dissing, then we wouldn’t be discussing him. Lord, don’t make me have to smoke this dude ’cause I mess with him, but push come to shove on this mic, I will humble him.” But now, Cole’s had a change of heart. He’s not worried about Drake giving him his only number one hit anymore; he’s got his priorities straight.
And guess what? Lil Wayne isn’t just drifting away from Drake—he’s making it obvious. Yep, you heard that right, and we’re not just throwing out wild guesses; we’ve got solid proof. Wayne was recently seen rocking an XO chain, which is The Weeknd’s label symbol, in a music video. Now, considering that Drake and The Weeknd haven’t exactly been on the best terms, this is huge. To make things even juicier, The Weeknd shared a picture of Wayne wearing the chain on his Instagram, captioning it, “The GOAT rocking the XO.”

Naturally, fans are confused. One person commented, “Yeah, it’s clear that Wayne and Drake definitely have some beef.” Another joked, “Wayne’s the type to walk into a shootout and not even realize what’s going on,” throwing in a crying-laughing emoji for good measure. Then there’s Wayne’s verse on Cordae’s “Saturday Mornings,” which fans are convinced is a shot at Drake. The lyrics, “It fit me like a glove, OJ hand, I’ma need a little love from your hating a-word and need less yes-men and more amens. I’ma need more real prayers and less praying hands,” have people thinking the OJ glove line is a nod to Drake’s “6PM in New York” cover, and the praying hands reference could be aimed at Drake’s “6 God” logo.

But the real kicker? These lines: “You standing on business, I’m a businessman. I’m a GOAT, n-word, you a sacrificial lamb. You a teddy bear, n-word, a Teddy Graham.” And we all know whose last name is Graham, right? And don’t forget that time Wayne switched up the lyrics to Kendrick’s diss track “Not Like Us” while performing “The Motto” in Vegas. He started chanting, “They don’t like us,” and held up his OVO chain. Some thought it was to help out his number one guy, but fans think Wayne was just trying to pull a fast one.

DOT definitely tried to stir the pot with his track “Not Like Us,” especially when he brought up how the “Rich Baby Daddy” artist hooked up with the New Orleans rapper’s partner while he was in jail: “Slept with Wayne’s girl while he was in jail. That’s shady, then got his face tatted like an apology.” And yeah, Wayne wasn’t too thrilled about it when it all went down. He actually wrote about it in his 2016 book, Gone ‘Til November: A Journal of Riker’s Island: “I woke up still feeling messed up about that terrible day. It was hell. I’m used to arguing with my girl every day, but finding out she slept with Drake was the worst thing I could have discovered as a man. Honestly, that hurt—not because it was Drake, but because it could’ve been anyone, and it would have hurt just the same. She said it happened before we got together, but she never told me. When Drizzy came to visit, he was like, ‘Yeah, it’s true. Don’t mess with her like that ’cause I did sleep with her.’ Damn.”

So, it seems like everyone’s distancing themselves from Drake, but let’s be real—he kind of brought this on himself. What did he expect when he decided to drop a song with one of his best friend’s rivals? Because that’s exactly what he did to Nicki Minaj. Drake’s a snake, right? That massive 100 GB leak also included an unreleased track by Drake called “Housekeeping Notes,” featuring L—someone who’s definitely not on Nicki’s Christmas card list. But Nicki’s been loyal to Drake from the jump. She even stood by him when Pusha T exposed his secret son. So, of course, she was furious when she found out Drake had betrayed her like that, and she didn’t hold back. During a chat with fans on Stationhead, Nicki called Drake and PartyNextDoor “Ugly Boy One” and “Ugly Boy Two,” and she wasn’t done. She went on to say they’ll always have women like “Ugly Girl,” AKA L, desperate for their attention. And she even mocked L’s southern accent:

“So, Ugly Boy One and Ugly Boy Two, they know they’ll always have a willing participant because some girls are so desperate. They’re so desperate that if someone told them to go catch a wild tuna, skin it, and eat it, they’d do it. They’d teach themselves how to hunt, fish, swim, kill, cook—everything—just because they want it that bad. But, honey child, it’s not worth it anymore.”

Honestly, it’s hard to feel sorry for Drake here since he kind of brought this on himself. No wonder J. Cole seems to be leaning towards DOT. Apart from the rumored apology, word on the street is that Cole is planning to drop a collab album with Kendrick to hit Drake where it hurts. Cole and DOT have teamed up before, but everyone thought any chance of a new collab was dead after they butted heads over Drake. But you know how it goes—my enemy’s enemy is my friend. That’s exactly what J. Cole is to DOT right now, so keep an ear out for a potential fire album in the future.

In fact, Cole talked about the possibility of a joint album during his appearance on Lil Yachty’s A Safe Place podcast. He shared how, back in the day, “Lamar pulled up on me at No I.D.’s spot after we’d already started building a relationship, and I had these beats at the time, and I was playing them for him.” Looks like we might finally get to hear that magic.

As for the fans, they’re not sure Drake’s making the right moves by going after J. Cole. One person commented, “I think it would be hard for J. Cole to lose just because of the negative momentum Drake has. The culture would naturally back J. Cole.” Another fan added, “Cole washed Drake on ‘First Person Shooter,’ and he washed him on ‘Evil Ways,’ so I would’ve given it to Cole before. But after hearing ‘7-Minute Drill,’ maybe J. Cole isn’t about that diss life. Drake seems ready for this, so if J. Cole comes at it half-heartedly again, he’s going to lose.” In short, J. Cole is definitely the better rapper, but Drake’s got the diss tracks on lock. Cole’s the one who needs to prove himself in this situation.
